Hello everyone, today I will discuss whether the word "at"is an adverb or not.Remember that an adverb can modify a verb and it doesn't take any object.

Look at the following example:

●Liz and her friend sat down at a corner table.

Explanation:In the above example,the word "at" is not an  adverb here.You can say that  the word"at" is a preposition here.

●Liz and her friend sat down at a corner table.




◆at a corner table. 

Here the object of "at" is a corner table.As the word "at" has the object "a corner table",the word "at" is here a preposition.



Remember that we cannot use the word "at" as an adverb.The word "at" is always used as a preposition.


💐Look at the following example:


●Does this train stop at Preston?

Explanation:Here the word "at" is a preposition because it has a object which is Preston.So,the word "at"is not an adverb.It is a preposition.


Conclusion:The word "at " is  always a preposition.It is not an adverb.
