Hello everyone, today I will discuss whether the word "from"is a linking verb or not.
A linking verb is that type of verb that doesn't express action.Besides,a linking verb function like a equal sign.
●He is a student.
Here,He=a student
Here "is" is a linking verb because it is expressing the alternative introduction of he by a student phrase.
Now look at the following example:
●He gives me a book from the shop.
Explanation:
In the above example,the word "from" is not a verb.You can say that here "from" is a preposition because it is making relationship two nouns-book and shop.
Actually,we cannot use from as a verb but we can use from as a preposition.So,the word "from" is not a linking verb.
Now look at the following example.
●He was from USA.
Explanation:
Here the word "from" is a preposition.So the word from is not used as a linking verb.
