Is "into" a Conjunction?

Today we will learn about whether "into"  is a conjunction or not.

Is "into" a Conjunction?

Let me give you an example:

You should come into my office.

●Explanation:Here "into" is not a conjunction but the word "into"has been used here as a preposition because "office" which is a noun is the object of " into."

Actually,we can't use "into"as a conjunction. The only part of speech of into is a preposition.

◆It is very  important for us to bear in mind that every preposition  has a object. The object of the preposition can be a noun, noun phrase or noun clause. Also,we have to bear in mind that a conjunction can join two words, phrases and clauses.

More example:

He is looking straight into her eyes.

Explanation:The word "into" is not a conjunction here. Here it is a preposition.
Here,"into" has built the relationship between  "eyes" which is a noun and "look "which is a verb. Here "straight"is an adverb which is modifying the verb"look".

◆Rules:●An adverb can modify a verb,an adjective or another adverb. An adverb can answer the question of how, when, where, why .
Nice to Know:

Structure of Noun phrase:

●adjective+Noun

So,"her eyes"is a  noun phrase in the following sentence.

He is looking straight into her eyes.

◆Structure of Prepositional phrase:

•Preposition +Noun phrase

He is looking straight into her eyes.

So,"into her eyes.
" is a prepositional phrase.

Now observe the following example:

He is looking straight into her eyes.

In this example,"into her eyes"is a prepositional phrase from structural side of prepositional phrase but from functional side,"into her eyes" is an adverbial prepositional phrase because like adverb "into her eyes" is modifying the intransitive verb "look". Here "look"has two adverbs.

Conclusion:Centainly,"into" is not a conjunction.It is not a coordinating conjunction.It is not a subordinating conjunction.But it is a preposition.
