●Explanation:Here "with"  has been used as a preposition because "a green cover" which is a noun phrase is the object of " with." 


◆Remember that every preposition must have a object.The object of the preposition can be a noun,noun phrase or noun clause.Also, remember that an adverb does take any object.

A preposition in a sentence builds the relationship between a noun to a noun ,an adjective to a noun or a verb to a noun.

●She will give me a book with a green cover.

Here,"with" has built the relationship between 'cover ' which is a noun and "book" "which is a noun.Give is  a transitive verb.

In this example, "with a green cover" is a prepositional phrase from structural side of prepositional phrase but  from functional side,"with a green cover"  is an adjective (prepositional  phrase ) because like adjective "with a green cover" is modifying the noun "book".An adjective modifies a noun before sitting adjective but adjective prepositional phrase modifies a noun after sitting the noun.
